Kullabergs Naturreservat

Public beaches

Kullaberg is renowned for its numerous rocky bathing beaches, the most famous of which is Ransvik. Even in the 19th century, men and women bathed together here – mixed bathing! By the moral standards of the time, depravity itself! However, a visit by King Oscar II did much to mollify public outrage and Ransvik’s reputation as a place of debauchery began to subside.

During the first few decades of the 20th century, Ransvik was one of Europe’s most popular bathing spots. Trains ran directly from Berlin to Mölle, whence it was just a short walk to Ransvik and bracing sea bathing. In 1921 a cafeteria was built where guests could enjoy kaffe med dopp – coffee and buns.
